E. Conwell) appeared in the 2 June 1933 edition of the Elberton Star newspaper: "The death of Mrs. J. E. Conwell, which occurred in Atlanta last Friday, occasioned widespread sorrow in Elbert county, her native home. She had been an invalid for several years, and her death was not unexpected. She was laid to rest at her former home at Lavonia, the funeral being conducted by Rev. Mr. Webb, assisted by Rev. John Yarbrough of Elberton. Mrs. Conwell is survived by her husband, president of the Georgia Cotton Co-operative Association, and four children - Mrs. S. D. Brown of Royston, Mr. J. E. Flowers, Miss Helen and Boyd Conwell. Mrs. L. D. Hewell of Elberton is one of eight surviving brothers and sisters." [Submitter's notes: She was born on 5 Dec 1870, the oldest of the 11 children of Asa Chandler Fortson and Louisa C. Hall of Goss, Elbert Co. She married James Edgar Conwell (1868-1944) on 4 May 1893. Their daughter Lula Mae Conwell married Dr. Stewart D. Brown, Sr., MD, of Royston, daughter Louise married Dr. John E.
