Mr. Fields was a native of Winnsboro, S. C., and had lived in Elberton most of his life. He was a son of Mrs. Emma Mabry Fields of Elberton and the late James W. Fields. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a retired printer, having worked with the Elberton Star for a number of yeasr. He was a member of the Odd Fellows. Survivors: mother, widow, Mrs. Jewel Sorrells Fields; three sons, Lee Fields, Jr., and Ancil Fields, both of Elberton and Dallas N. Fields of comer; a daughter, Mrs. Lewis Brady of Anderson, S.C.; a brother, Willie Fields of Elberton; three sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Brady, Mrs. Gordon Kelly, and Mrs. Elmer Ingram all of Elberton; nine granchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday at Hicks Funeral Home, the Revs. Donald R. Collins and Bill Cameron officiating.
