Fortson, formerly of Elbert County, died Thursday, July 4, in the Statesboro Nursing Home after an extended illness. Born in Elbert County, she was the daughter of the late Marcus R. and Alice Mize Bond. She was homemaker and was a member of the Statesboro First United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter Mrs. Leo (Bettie) Adamczyk of Statesboro; a brother, Clayton J. Bond of Dewy Rose and a sister Mrs. Dalton (Tommie) Webb of Elberton. Funeral services were held Monday, July 8, at 3 p.m. at the H. M. Patterson and Sons Spring Hill Chapel in Atlanta, with burial in Westview Cemetery in Atlanta. Pallbears were Kenneth Akins, Chandler Hewell, Mack Butler, Fred Bond, Chandler Eavenson and Jerry Hewell. Additional Comments: She was born 18 Dec 1901 in Elbert Co., GA, the daughter of Mark Reeves Bond (1866-1920) and Alice A. Mize (1872-1942). She married in 1922 to Fred Hall Fortson (1893-1948), son of Asa Chandler Fortson and Louisa Catherine Hall of Goss, Elbert Co.
