J. Fortson, 79, Dies in Atlanta - T. J. Fortson, formerly of Elbert County, died yesterday in Atlanta of a heart attack after being ill only one day. He was 79 years old. Funeral services will be held in Atlanta tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 and burial will be in Crest Lawn cemetery. Mr. Fortson is survived by a son, Thomas B. Fortson of High Springs, Fla; two brothers W. A. Fortson and George Fortson of Atlanta; three sisters, Miss Sallie Lou Fortson of Fishkill, NY, Mrs. L. D. Hewell of Elberton and Mrs. Leon Eavenson of Atlanta." [Submitter's notes: Thomas Jefferson Fortson (1876-1955) was the son of Confederate Soldier Asa Chandler Fortson and wife Louisa Catherine Hall, daughter of Confederate Soldier Lt. James Chambers Hall and wife Mary Adaline Loftis. He married in 1899 to Neva Burford of Calhoun Falls, SC.
