Annie Florie Goss Higginbotham, 96, a resident of the Spring Valley Health Care 
Center, widow of Larry Higginbotham, died Friday, March 23, in the Elbert 
Memorial Hospital after several months of illness. She was a life long resident 
of Elbert County, a daughter of the late Benny and Sallie Gaines Goss. She was 
a homemaker and a member of the Harmony Baptist Church. Survivors include a 
son, Bruce Higginbotham of Greenwood, SC, two daughters, Mrs. Horace (Betty Jo)
Adams of Elberton and Mrs. Pierce (Willena) Adams of Riverdale; five 
grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday 
at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of the Hicks Funeral Home with the Revs. Don Weber and 
Jim McDougal officiating. Burial was in the Concord United Methodist Church 
cemetery. Pallbears were [names deleted].

Concord UMC Cemetery records show Florie Goss Higginbotham (1893-1990) and 
Larry B. Higginbotham (1891-1976). Elbert Co. marriage records show L. B. 
Higginbotham and Annie F. Goss were married on 28 Dec 1911, and Benjamin F. 
Gaines and Sallie A. Gaines were married on 19 Nov 1885.
