"Mrs. Lettie Herndon died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R. E. Oglesby, Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock. She had been quite sick for some time, and though it was realized that she could not be restored to former strength and health, her death was a shock and surprise to a wide circle of friends. "Mrs. Herndon was about seventy years of age, and had been a resident of the county all her life, living in Elberton for the last twenty-five years. She was a Christian of the unostentatious type, a faithful member of the Baptist church, and exerted a wonderful influence for right living over all with whom she came in contact. "She is survived by five daughters, all residents of Elberton, viz; Mrs. T. O. Tabor, Mrs. J. A. Manley, Mrs. S. P. Rampley, Mrs. W. T. Arnold and Mrs. R. E. Oglesby. "The funeral was conducted from Mr. Oglesby's home on Heard street Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock by her pastor, Rev. J. T. B. Anderson, and the interment was at Elmhurst. Many beautiful floral offerings told of the tender love of numberless friends, and one of the largest processions ever seen in Elberton followed the remains to their last resting place in the city of the dead."
