Sol., was born in VA Apr 26, 1754, moved from VA about 45 years ago and settled in Wilkes, now Elbert Co., GA where he resided until January last when he moved with his son Thomas to Heard Co., GA where he died March 22, 1838." [Submitter's notes: Thomas Hilley, Sr., son of Francis Hilley and Sarah Dawson, moved from Amherst Co., VA to Wilkes Co., later Elbert Co., between Dec. 1788 and Jul 1790. He was shown as a Rev. Soldier and entitled to draw from Elbert Co. in the GA land lottery of 1827. He had married ca 1772 in Amherst Co. to Mary Walker Bond, daughter of Nathan Bond, Sr. and Elizabeth Ballenger. The children of Thomas Hilley, Sr. and Mary Walker Bond were: 1. Elizabeth, married Edmund Rowsey 1793 2. Mary "Polly", married George Eavenson 1805 3. Emilia Mildred, married John B. Wade 1811 4. Sarah, married Gardner McGarity 1816 5. Richard, married 1st Elizabeth Dillard 1815 married 2nd Elizabeth Shepard 1817 6. William W., married Martha "Patsy" McGuire 1812 7.
