Atlanta Constitution, 15 Apr 1914 
Elberton, Ga., April 14 - Hon. J. B. Jones, Sr., one of Elbert's oldest and 
best known citizens, died here this morning after a long illness. He will be 
buried here tomorrow. He was about  72 years old, and has been one of Elbert's 
largest and best farmers. He leaves several children. In the '80s he 
represented Elbert county in the legislature. He will be buried with Masonic 
honors.

Elbert Co. marriage records show Jeptha B. Jones and Elizabeth T. Burton were 
married 25 Sep 1859. Records for Elmhurst cemetery in Elberton show burials 
for Jeptha B. Jones, Sr., born 25 Nov 1836, died 14 Apr 1914, Confederate 
soldier, and Elizabeth T. Burton Jones, born 25 oct 1843, died 29 Jul 1910.
