J. JONES IN LOWER ELBERT ---------- Mr. W. J. [Wm. John] Jones, native of South Carolina, for many decades a prosperous farmer of lower Elbert, died at his home near Balchin's store Thursday morning following a long illness. The funeral service and burial will be at Bethel church this afternoon at 4 o'clock. Rev. J. C. West, his pastor, will be in charge. Mr. Jones is survived by a large family of children, Homer Jones of Spartanburg, S. C., Mrs. Wm. J. [Sarah Rosalie] Hammond, Mrs. Leonard [Laura] Hammond, of Lincolnton, Mrs. W. O. [Maude] Hudson, Mrs. S. H. [Genora] Jones, W. E. [Wad] Jones, O. D. [Obadiah] Jones and W. A. [William Allen] Jones all of Elbert county. Since the death of his wife some time ago, Mr. Jones has been in failing health, and his death, though a source of widespread sorrow, was not unexpected.
