"Miss Lillian Manley, popular government clerk in one of the departments at Washington City, died at a private hospital last Friday night, following an illness of several months. Her body was brought back to Elberton for burial. "The funeral services were conducted at the home of her brother, Mr. Horace Manley, on Heard street Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock by Rev. Henry T. Brookshire, pastor of the Elberton First Baptist Church. Interment was at Elmhurst cemetery. "The deceased was born and reared in Carnesville, and belonged to a large and influential family of Franklin county. For many years she was a resident of Elberton and was the center of a wide circle of friends here. She is survived by two brothers, Mr. Roy Manley of Atlanta and Mr. Horace Manley of Elberton."
