Mrs. Mary E. Olds died yesterday afternoon at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. C. E. Vinson, on the Houston road, about eight miles from Macon. She was 71 years old, and had spent her life in raising a large and influential family, every member of which has honored her gray hair. She was the mother of Mrs. Vinson, of Dr. A. D. Olds of Houston county, of Mrs. W. H. Turner of Atlanta, Mr. James M. Olds of Elberton, mr. L. W. Olds of Suwannee, Mrs. T. A. J. Majors of Carrollton, and Mrs. Freeman and Mrs. Campbell of Centreville. The remains will be shipped to Atlanta this morning for interment this afternoon. Additional Comments: Mary Elizabeth (Black) Olds was born 3 March 1832 and was daughter of John Walker Black and Elizabeth "Betsy" (Hamm) Black of Elbert Co., GA. She married Daniel Griswold Olds on 29 January 1850 in Elberton, Elbert Co., GA. He was the son of James Newell Olds and Eunice (Griswold) Olds. Mary and Daniel Olds are buried at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, Fulton Co., GA.
