Smith, retired barber - Mr. E.C. Smith, 87, of Morrow, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 1999, at Southern Medical Center in Riverdale. Mr. Smith was born in Elbert County on February 4, 1912, to John Singleton and Cynthia Gunter Smith. He was the widower of Allie Ruth Hart Smith. A barber retired from Yellow Jacket Barbershop in Atlanta, he was a member of Tabernacle Church of God in Atlanta. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He had lived in Morrow for 20 years. Survivors include: son, Eulis Carlton Smith of Colquitt; daughter, Carlese Donovan of Morrow; brother, J.B. Smith of Fitzgerald; sisters, Irene Hughes, Moddie Smith, Lois Parsons, Ruby Douglas and Vidalia Hayes, all of Fitzgerald, and Lou Robinson of Jacksonville, Fla.; two grandchildren, and two great- grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 11 am Saturday, Aug. 14 at The Paulk Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Keith Maxwell officiating. Music was provided by organist and soloist Anita Brown. Pallbearers were G.M. Tucker, Joe Robinson, Vernie Horton, Johnny Beck, Harold Donovan and Christopher Donovan. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.
