Obituary for Sam Joe Smith
Mr. Sam Joe Smith, 86, of Lexington Highway, Elberton, husband of the late 
Dorothy Cabe Smith, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2014, at Spring Valley 
Healthcare Center. 

Mr. Smith was born in Oglethorpe County on August 21, 1927, to the late Sam 
and Molly Saxon Smith. He was a retired stone cutter and radiator repairman 
and was a member of Falling Creek Baptist Church. 

Left to cherish his memories are his son, David J. Smith of Florence, South 
Carolina; granddaughter, Katie Smith of Elberton; brother, Fred Smith of 
Elberton; and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by siblings, Ray 
Smith, Kathryn Andrews, and Onzelle Tiller. 

Funeral services celebrating his life was held on Monday, May 5, at 3:00p.m. 
in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Revs. Jack McVeigh and 
Dwight Morgan officiating. Interment follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. 

The family was at the residence and did receive friends at Berry Funeral Home 
from 7:00-9:00p.m. Sunday evening.
