B. H. THORNTON ANSWERS LAST CALL - Popular Citizen Dies After An Illness of Several Weeks with Catarrh. After an illness of several weeks Mr. Ben H. Thornton died last Saturday morning about 11 oclock at his home in West End. The deceased is survived by his wife and five children, and a host of relatrives in this and adjoining counties. Mr. Thornton was a straightforward citizen, a good neighbor, a provident and kind father and husband, and was esteemed by all who knew him. It is said of him that he didn't have an enemy. The funeral services were conducted at his late home Sunday afternoon at 2 oclock by Rev. T. R. Adams, and interment was in Elmhurst cemetery at 3 oclock. The Woodmen of the World conducted the burial. The sympathy of their many friends is extended the bereaved family in their hour of deep sorrow. Additional Comments: Benjamin H. Thornton was born 16 Aug 1857 and died on 14 Feb 1908. He married on 19 Jan 1882 in Elbert Co. to Ella Catherine Warren. He was the son of William E. Thornton (son of Rev. Benjamin Thornton, Jr. and Nancy Payne) and Elizabeth Thornton (daughter of John Thornton and Frances Adams). Ella C. Warren Thornton was born 26 Nov 1857, died 7 Sep 1920 and is buried beside him in Elmhurst cemetery.
