W. E. TATE DIED TUESDAY EVENING. "The death of Mrs. W. E. Tata on last Tuesday night at her home in Petersburg removed from our county one of it's oldest and most prominent and best beloved women. She was buried at old Bethlehem church on Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock. The funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. O. E. Smith, assisted by Presiding Elder Horace Smith and Rev. L. W. Collins. Mrs. Tate was born in Abbeville county, SC in 1849 and was 74 years of age. She had been a patient yet cheerful sufferer for many years. She is survived by her husband and one sister and brother - Mrs. L. H. O. Martin and Mr. John Frank Harper of Lowdnesville, SC." [Submitted by: Chandle Eavenson]
