Brother Vaughan married Elizabeth David when he was a young man. They were pious members of Dove's Baptist Church of Christ, Elbert County, Georgia from the time of connection until death. Many years had our brother served as deacon there while with his loved companion whose death preceded his own a few years. But the writer in visits to him to read, talk and pray still found him strong in faith, giving glory to God and much resigned to His will. He lived to know that the increase of his offspring had reached the fourth generation so that he had great-great grandchildren while the whole increase had reached between three and four hundred. God grant to bless them all throughout their generations on earth as will be most to His Honor and glory and most to the temporal, spiritual and eternal good of ever living one! Like a shock of ripe grain he was carried into the upper garner of his dear Savior. The funeral service was performed by I. H. Goss. Submitter's notes: Alexander Wilks Vaughan Sr. was the son of James Vaughan and Susannah Wilkins of Mechlenburg, VA and late of Oglethorpe, GA Submitted by his great-great-great granddaughter Letitia G.
