The Christian Index.  Obituary of Elizabeth David Vaughan: Thursday, October 30,
1873

Mrs. Elizabeth Vaughan died on the 6th day of October, 1873 of palsy, therefore
to the eighty-sixth year of her age, when she died.  She had been in ill health
for the past three years suffering from the disease of which she died.  She
leaves behind to mourn her loss an aged husband, five children, and a large
family connection.

In her young days Mrs. Vaughan attached herself to the Baptist Church of which
she was ever after faithful, consistent, and a zealous member, and her soul
winged its flight to Jehovah, confident of an eternal abiding place at His right
hand in the mansion of the blest.  A true disciple of her Master, she reared all
her children in the cause she espoused.  To her husband she was ever a helpmate,
and down the hill of life they walked hand in hand bearing each other's burdens,
and consoling each other in the trials of life and dispensations of Divine
Providence.  To her children, besides placing before them an example of
Christian meekness, she used her best endeavors to train them up in the way they
should go.  To her neighbors she was all that could be desired, ready with a
helping hand and the counsel of her Christian faith, in the hour of affliction
and distress.

The family has lost a worthy member, the community a bright example, and the
church a devoted sister.

Submitter's note:  Elizabeth (David) Vaughan was wife of Alexander Wilks
Vaughan, Sr. She was the daughter of Isaac David and Mildred White of VA and 
late of Elbert County, GA.  She was the granddaughter of Huguenots,  Pierre
David III of Normandy, France and Elizabeth Morrisette of Manakin Town, VA.
