Howard Vickery, Jr. - 2 Mar 1950 The following obituary appeared in an Atlanta newspaper on or about 5 Mar 1950: "Funeral services for C. Howard Vickery, Jr., 27 of 558 Seal Pl., NE, will be held Tuesday at 10:00 AM at Spring Hill. The Rev. A. W. Bussey and Dr. Louie D. Newton will officiate. Burial will be in Crest Lawn cemetery. Mr. Vickery died Thursday in a plane crash in Miami, Florida. He was in Miami taking flying lessons at the Miami Air base. Survivors are his wife; parents Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Vickery, Sr. and two brothers J. Fred Vickery of Atlanta and Joe L. Vickery of Miami." [Additional information: Clarence Howard Vickery, Jr. was born on 20 Mar 1922, the son of C. H. Vickery, Sr. and Mary Emma Fortson of Elbert Co. and Atlanta. He was killed on 2 Mar 1950 while attending Riddle Aviation School for commercial pilots. He was married to Winnifred Lewis and had no children.
