H. Vickery... Funeral services for Mrs. C. H. (Mary Emma) Vickery of 569 Techwood Dr., NW, will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Bowman. "Mrs. Vickery died at an Atlanta hospital Monday afternoon after being an invalid for three years. She was crippled in an automobile accident three years ago. "Her husband is a retired carpenter. Other survivors are sons, J. Fred Vickery, Sr., Atlanta, and Joe L. Vickery, Miami; sisters, Mrs. Leon Eavenson, Conley; Mrs. Lester Hewell, Elberton, and Miss Sallie Lou Fortson, Fishkill, N.Y.; brothers, William A., George and Tom Fortson, all of Atlanta; sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Fortson, Atlanta; nine grandchildren and one greatgrandchild, several nieces and nephews." [Submitter's notes: Mary Emma Vickery (1878-1954) was the daughter of Asa Chandler Fortson and Louisa Catherine Hall of Elbert County. Her first husband, James Lester Vickery (1873-1919), an Atlanta policeman, was the son of Rev. William James Vickery and Lettie Evelyn Haines.
