Mrs. Mary Sthreshley Starke WHITE, widow of Henry WHITE of Elbert Co., GA. Mrs. WHITE departed this life at the home of her son, Thomas S. WHITE in Coweta Co, Ga. on the morning of the 12th of July 1851 in the 73rd year of her life after laboring under severe indisposition for many years. She became a member of the Baptist Church at Vann's Creek in 1831. She was born in Hanover Co., Va. on the 30th day of April 1779. Soon after her intermarriage with Henry WHITE of Elbert Co which took place in 1805, Feb. 28, they settled in Elbert Co., Ga. She was descended from one of the oldest and most respectable families in Virginia. Her maiden name STARKE, a name familiar to almost every person you meet from her native state, Virginia. Her husband died in 1842, and she concluded to live among her children, there being no young ones. This melancholy announcment of her death is made from the house of her son. Her character as a lady, wife, mother, and friend needs no eulogy. She left five children, two sons, and three daughters.
