The photo, which identified the students by name, was submitted to the Star by Mrs. Willie Butler. The names of the students were: Front row: John Roberts, Paul Carithers, Asa Webb, Turner Loehr, Jim Carithers, George Conwell, Hussie Turner, Bell Ayers, Kate Carithers and Sally Lou Fortson. Second row: Joe Fortson, Tom Adams, Mattie Lou Carithers, Essie Roberts, Addie Carithers, Lou Sindie Hall, Annie Turner and Ruby Conwell. Third row: Parks Reagan, William Rousey, Will Fortson, Otis Clark, George Loehr, John Conwell, Ernest Carithers, Mamie Andrews, Lyttie Webb, Willie Turner, Janie Carithers, Maggie Webb, Emmie Loehr, Lee Ayers, Essie Hall and Sallie Johnson. Fourth and back row: Med Webb, Willie Butler, Tom Fortson, Jim Adams, Bynum Bell, Tom Hall, Wilbur Hendrix, teacher Genie Johnson, Genie Adams, Carrie and Corrie Turner (twins), Emma Fortson, Sally Mae Conwell and Vesta Clark. [Submitter's notes: The Goss school was located on the lot where Clarence Booth's home stood in 1958, teacher Wilbur Hendricks taught grades 1 through 7 (as per Mrs. Willie Butler). Practically all of the students were closely related to each other. The Fortsons were all children of Asa Chandler Fortson and Louisa Catherine Hall. The Conwells were their first cousins, being children of Louisa's sister, Sally Viletta Hall Conwell (Mrs. George B. Conwell).
