Schools. Within this article is a quote from an article in the Star on 23 Jan 1917, as follows: "In the year 1858 a small, one room school building was erected at the place where Stinchcomb School now stands, about one and a half mile from Goss. "After the War Between the States the following teachers taught at Goss: exact dates are not known: W. L. Norman, P. A. Wilhite, Miss Olivia Sewell, Miss Ellie Andrews, Miss Hester Andrews, Miss Narcis Langston, John Fortson, John Mize, Miss Ophelia Sanders, Miss Lizzie Goss, Joe Fowler, Miss Bessie Furton. "It was decided to move the school from Stinchcomb to a better location for the school would be at Goss on the Southern Railway. "These taught at Goss: Thomas Chandler, Vandiver Brown, Miss Lizzie Crittenden, Miss Leila Norman, Welborn Hendrix, Moss Fleming, Charley Payne, Miss Kate Thornton, W. H. Kerlin, Miss Pearl Clifton, M. A. Bell, Miss Rebecca Snellings, Miss Addie Carithers, Miss Ruby Conwell, Miss Kate Carithers, Miss Pauline Haslett, Miss Ida Norman, Miss Lil McCurry. "In 1914 the school was removed to Stinchcomb with Miss Elma Eavenson as its first teacher. Since that time it has had the following teachers: Miss Sarah Moore, Miss Alva Eavenson, Miss Una Haley, Miss Lettie Bell. "The present teachers are Miss Vesta Christian, principal, and Mrs. Asbury Christian, assistant. For the first time in twenty years two teachers have been required;; enrollment is 55. "Since removing the school, the following trustees have served: H. C. Rousey, A. M. Deadwyler, Arthur Bell, John Bell, John Eaves and Robert Sayer. "The present trustees are: Jim Fortson, A. M.
