A. P. Turner officiating. Miss Phoebe Carpenter rendered several vocal selections before the ceremony, accompanied by Mrs. George Thompson of Inman, and Miss Edna Brabhan and Mr. Henry Brabham. Lohengrin's wedding march was played. The groom entered the parlor with his best man, Mr. Frank Sherard, of Calhoun Falls, S.C. The bride entered with her only attendant, Miss Florence Hall, of Asheville, N.C. She wore a dainty white orgndie, black picture hat and carried an armful of pink roses. The bride was becomingly attired in a suit of midnight blue tricotine with corresponding accessories. She wore a corsage of lavender sweet peas and fern. Immediately after the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Bates left for a wedding trip to the mountains of N.C. Mr. and Mrs. Bates are now residing at the Piedmont Hotel in Elberton.
