DeSoto Co., MS affidavit, 23 Apr 1853 
In an affidavit dated 23 Apr 1853 in DeSoto Co., MS Claiborne's son John Q. 
Sandidge stated that his father Claiborne and mother Jane were married on 24 
Oct 1802 while residents of Elbert Co., GA, that Claiborne was a Rev. Soldier 
who died 9 Feb 1843, and that Jane died on 8 Dec 1827, both Elbert Co.

Additional Comments:
Since Elbert Co. marriage records only begin in 1805, the above is the only 
known record of the marriage. Various early Elbert Co. legal documents show 
Claiborne Sandidge referring to his wife Jane as a daughter of Samuel 
Higginbotham. See Claiborne's Rev. war pension application and an 1814 deed 
posted on this site. Rev. soldier Samuel Higginbotham and wife Jane 
Satterwhite came to Elbert Co. from Amherst Co., VA.
