Marriages 

The following wedding announcement appeared in the 20 Dec 1900 
edition of the Elberton Star newspaper: 

"Thornton-Childs Marriage. 
 Two More Hearts That Beat as United in Wedlock. 

"At the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Childs, 
near Elberton, on Wednesday afternoon, December 19th, at 
3 o'clock, occurred the marriage of their daughter, Missie Neppie, 
to Mr. Will H. Thornton, Rev. H. W. Williams officiating. 

"The marriage was a quiet home affair, only a few relatives and 
most intimate friends being present. 

"Mr. Thornton is one of Elbert's most enterprising young farmers, 
a man who possesses to qualities of making a leading citizen and 
one who numbers his friends by the score. 

"His bride is one of Elbert's most beautiful and cultured young 
ladies and possesses many lovable traits of character. 

"Mr. and Mrs. Thornton were entertained Wednesday evening at the 
home of the groom by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Thornton."
