I, Hiram G. Adams, being of advanced age and knowing that I must soon depart this life do therefore make this my last Will and Testament. 1st: I will that all my funeral expenses be paid. 2nd: I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Mary H. all of the land that I possess whereon I now reside together with the house and kitchen furniture, all of the plantation tools with all of the stock that I may possess at the time of my death, except such property that I may otherwise dispose of in the Will. 3rd: I will my son William M. his choice of beds and bedstead and furniture for bed, his choice of one bee-stand, two choice sheep, to have at any time he may call for them. 4th: It is my will that after the death of my wife, for my daughter Phebe E. to have six hundred dollars, to make her equal with what I have given the other legatees. 5th: It is my will that after the death of my beloved wife, all of my children (viz) William M., James J., Phebe E., Laurence M., Middleton B. and Singleton A. to have an equal portion of my estate. 6th: It is my will that if my daughter Phebe E. should die without leaving heirs, that her part of my estate be retained in my estate to be divided equally between the rest of my legatees. 7th: It is my will, after the death of my wife, that the tract of land known as the Allen tract, be sold and the expenses for selling be paid from the proceeds and the balance of the proceeds I will to my granddaughter Martha E. Adams, and if she should die without heirs I will that the proceeds of said land be equally divided between my above named legatees. 8th: I hereby constitute and appoint my beloved sons William M. and James J. Adams Executors of this my last Will and Testament, this November 4th 1872. Hiram G. Adams Seal" The witnesses were William R. Adams, A. M. Adams and F. P. Thornton. The above Will was proved on 1 March 1873 before James A. Andrew, Ordinary, and recorded on 7 Apr 1873.
