Anna Booth Petition for Support 06 Nov 1874 Elbert County, GA STATE OF GEORGIA, ELBERT COUNTY: To the Honorable Ordinary of said County: The Petition of Anna Booth, widow of John Booth, late of said County, deceased, showeth that said John Booth departed this life 25th day of September 1874, having made his will leaving James C. Booth and Asa J. Booth his executors who have qualified, James C. Booth having the Estate of deceased in his hands, which your petitioner says does not exceed the sum of five hundred dollars. Your petitioner prays the court of Ordinary of said County to appoint five discreet appraisers to act apart and assign to your petitioner either in property or in money a sufficiency from the estate for her sufficiency for her support for the space of Twelve months from the date of Administration. She being aged and suffering and unable to help herself and having been so from the death of her said Husband, and dependent upon others for help and support and she claims also a sufficiency of household furniture for her use, all agreeably to the laws in such cases made and provided. GEORGIA, ELBERT COUNTY: Court of Ordinary Nov Term 1876. the foregoing application of Anna Booth widow of John Booth decd having been read and considered. It is ordered by me in Order that the provision due the widow for her years support may be lawfully set apart, that Abda Oglesby, George C. Oglesley, F. W. Hammond, A. G. Lynch, I.J. Parham or a majority of you taking into consideration all the circumstances of the said John Booth's family and Estate, assess for his widow a Sum necessary for her support and maintenance for Twelve Months from the date of Administration and then set apart that amount in money or such property as the widow may select at a fair valuation to be made by you and also to set apart for the widow a sufficient amount of household furniture for the use of the widow, and I return to me within three months after your appointment,, a schedule of property or amount of money to set apart for support and maintenance to be recorded.
