I, Nathan Bond of the State and County aforesaid being of sound mind and disposing memory and calling to mind the uncertainty of all ____in existence and the certainty of death do make this my last Will and Testament. That touching my spiritual concerns I resign my Mortal body to its mother earth from whence it came and my Immortal soul to God who gave it Trusting in the merits of a crucified Redeemer for the remission of all my sins and as touching my temporal estate which it hath pleased God to bless me with I give and dispose of in the following manner namely 1st I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Edith Bond the entire tract of land whereon I now live containing four hundred and forty nine acres to be possessed by her during her natural life and after her death to be equally divided among my five sons to wit Nelson Bond John Bond Joel Bond Daniel Bond and Willis Bond each to have a share and share alike in said land. Secondly I do give and bequeath to my beloved wife Edith Bond seven negroes, to wit, Winny and her two children Frederick Sam Isaac and Jacob also my entire stock of horses cows hogs and sheep together with all my house hold and kitchen furniture blacksmiths tools plantation tools of every discription and also the entire crop that is or may be on the land at the time of my death to be possessed of by her during her natural life and after her death my will is that the negroes and all of my perishable property to be sold by my Executors and to be equally divided among all my children five sons and six daughters, to wit, Nelson Bond John Bond Joel Bond Daniel Bond Willis Bond Rachel Richards Elizabeth Pulliam Tabetha Porterfield Susan Higginbotham Martha Dudley and Mary Carpenter. Thirdly, my will is that if I should during my life dispose of any of the before mentioned negroes and get others or shall be possessed of at the time of my death any property that is not named above my will in that case is that my Executors shall sell all the prooperty that I may be possessed of both real and personal and to divide the proceeds of the same among all my children as before mentioned. Fourthly I do hereby appoint Joel Bond and Willis Bond my Executors of this my last Will and Testament and do hereby revoke all former Wills by me made of whatsoever date In witness whereof I do hereby set my hand and seale this 12th day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty five. Warren and being duly sworn saith that they saw Nathan Bond sign and seal the above and foregoing instrument as his last Will and Testament and that the deponent together with William J. White signed the same as witnesses in the presence of the testator and at his request and in the presence of each other, and these deponents believe the testator to have been of sound and disposig mind and memory at the time he executed the same.Sworn to and subscribed in open court this 4th day of May 1846.
