This file was contributed by: Chandler Eavenson http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00030.html#0007294 Will of John Dickerson 5 Apr 1862 The following Will is recorded in Will Book A, Pages 110-112, Hart Co., GA "State of Georgia Hart County In the name of God Amen I John Dickerson of said State and County being of advanced age and knowing that I must soon depart this life, deem it right and proper as respects my family and myself, that I should make some disposition of the property with which a kind providence has blessed me do therefore make this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all others heretofore made by me. "Ist Item - I desire and direct that my body be buried in a decent and christian like manner suitable to my circumstances and conditions in life. "IInd Item - I desire and direct that all my just debts be paid without delay by my executors herein after appointed. "IIIrd Item - I give and bequesth to my beloved wife Elizabeth the tract of land whereon I now live, together with the stock, and other appurtenances belonging to the place, also three negroes 'to wit' a negro man Moses, a negro woman Mary and her child Henry during her lifetime, and at her death, to belong to my daughter Frances during her life provided she outlives her mother and at both of their deaths to be divided among my children. "IVth Item - I give and bequeath to my beloved son Dozier D. Dickerson the tract of land known as the Smith tract, and to my son William H. Dickerson I give the tract of land known as the Tyner place, provided they or either of them should ever return, should they or either of them never return then the land to be sold and divided among my children. "Vth Item - I give to my son Zachariah Dickerson sixty acres of land, as in the 4th Item I gave both my sons Dozier and William one tract which is to be one hundred acres each, as there is one hundred and forty acres in one tract and one hundred and twenty in the other leaving sixty acres which I give to my son Zachariah to be measured off of both tracts so as to have the sixty acres in one body. "VIth Item - It is my will and desire that the tract of land I own on the Beaverdam creek be sold and divided among my children to be sold when my executors think best for the estate. "VIIth Item - It is my will and desire that the portion of my estate which goes to mydaughter Mary Ann Tyner shall be to her and her children not subject to her present or any future husband. "VIIIth Item - I hereby constitute and appoint my beloved sons Thomas T. Dickerson and John C. Dickerson executors of this my Last Will and Testament. This April 5, 1862. Herndon who being duly sworn says that he saw John Dickerson sign the foregoing Will that at the time of signing the same, the said John published and declared it to be his last Will and Testament, that deponent together with James F. White and Elbert J. Brown whose names are thereto subscribed as witnesses signed the same as witnesses in the presence and at the request of the said testator at the date thereof, that the testator at the time of signing the same was in the opinion of deponent of sound and disposing mind.
