Will of John Hamm 21 Apr 1821 Elbert County, GA Will of John Ham 21 April 1821 Elbert Co, GA Georgia Elbert County In the name of God, Amen. I John HAM of county and State aforesaid being sick and infirm of body but of sound mind and memory, and knowing that it is appointed for all men to die do make this my last will and testament in manner & form following. First I recommend myself to God my maker and preserver. Secondly my will is that my son Stephen shall have Eighty Nine dollars. I will that all my just debts be paid thirdly. Fourthly my will is that my son James shall have One Hundred and Ninety Seven dollars. Fifthly my will is that my son Gideon shall have Two Hundred & Fifty Four dollars. Sixthly my will is that my son William shall have Three Hundred & Four dollars. Seventhly my will is that my son John shall have Three Hundred & Sixty Seven dollars. Eighthly my will is that my daughter Clary shall have Three Hundred & Ninety One dollars. Ninthly my will is that my daughter Sophia shall have Four Hundred & Fifty Two dollars. Tenthly my will is that my daughter Sucky shall have Four Hundred & Fifty Two dollars. Eleventhly my will is that my daughter Betsey shall have Four Hundred & Fifty Two dollars. Twelthly my will is that my daughter Nancy shall have Four Hundred & Fifty Two dollars. Thirteenthly my will is that my son Samuel shall have Four Hundred & Fifty Two dollars. Fourteenthly my will is that my son Willis R. shall have Four Hundred & Fifty Two dollars. Be it understood that all the aforesaid sums of money that I have willed to my children aforesaid is designed to make equality with my daughter Lucinda sum which I have formerly given to her which amount is Four Hundred & Fifty Two dollars. Fifteenthly my will is that the neat proceeds of the crop made on my Plantation shall be applied by my undernamed Executors to the payment of the aforesaid sums of money to my children aforesaid beginning at the eldest and then next eldest & so on down to the youngest until all the aforesaid sum shall be paid of. Sixteenthly my will is that my children (Viz) Samuel, Willis R. and Nancy shall have their education and boarding paid for out of my estate exclusively of any part of their Legacy left to them by this will. Seventeenthly my will is that the whole of my estate both real and personal remain in the hands of my wife during her natural life or widowhood and at her death or marriage the whole to be equally divided betwixt the whole of my children. Eighteenthly I do hereby nominate my beloved wife Betsey my Executrix and my son William and my son in law James UPSHAW my Executors to this my last will and testament and I do hereby void and disannull all other will or wills by me heretofor made, ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament.
