Will Book B, 1791-1803, Pages 32-33 Written: May 10, 1796 Recorded: April 1, 1798 In the name of God Amen, this tenth day of May in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety-Six, I, William Hansard of the County of Elbert being weak in body but of sound mind and memory, thanks be given unto God for the same, and calling to mind that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament, utterly revokeing and disannulling all Wills by me made heretofore and rattifying and confirming this only - First of all I recomend my soul unto the hands of God who gave it and my body to the dust, to be buried in a christian like and decent manner at the discretion of my Executors who I shall hereafter mention - nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the Almighty Power of God - and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this present life, I Will and dispose of in the following manner. Item. I desire that all my just debts be paid. Item. My will and desire is that my whole estate both real and personal remain in the possession of my well beloved wife Jennet until my youngest child comes of age, and at that period, I desire that one hundred acres of the land be laid out including the plantation whereon I now live, bounded by land now Benjamin Fannins and James Carters land, and to be laid out in a square form which said one hundred acres of land, I lend unto my widow during her natural life and at her death to desind to my youngest child, Thomas Scott to him and his heirs forever. Item. I desire that the balance of my landed estate be equally divided between my other three sons, viz - William, Gessey Brown and John, share and share alike, which said legcies to them when divided is to them and their heirs for ever, and if either of my said four sons should die before they come of age or have a lawful heir, I desire that their legacy be equally divided amongst the surviving legatees of my said sons. Item. I desire that the ballance of my estate not already disposed of be equally divided between my said widow and all my children at the time my said youngest child Thoms Scott comes of lawful age, all share and share alike, that is to say both sons and daughters, and if either of my said children should die without a lawful heir I desire that their legacy be equally divided amongst the surviving legatees, and the last of my personnall estate so lent to my said widow at her death, I desire shall be equally divided amongst all my children. Item - I give and bequeath to my grand daughter Chaney Hansard at the time a division of my personall estate takes place, one cow and calf, and is to her and her heirs forever - I hereby nominate nd appoint my friends Richardson Hunt, Samuel Higginbotham, and Francis Satterwhite the executors of this my Last Will and Testament.
