Record Book 1830-35, Page 163 Written: February 8, 1832 Recorded: September 6, 1832 "State of Georgia, Elbert County) In the name of God Amen, I James Hunt of the county aforesaid being of sound mind and disposing memory but weak in body and calling to mind the uncertainty of human existance, and the certainty of death, have thought proper to make and ordain this my last Will and testament in manner and form following (to wit) as touching my spiritual concerns. I resign my mortal body to its mother earth from whence it came to be buried in a decent manner at the discretion of my Executor hereinafter named, and my immortal soul to God who gave it, trusting in the merits of my Redeemer for the remission of all my sins, and as touching my worldly estate it hath pleased God in his grate goodness to bless me with. I give and dispose of in the following manner (to wit) Item 1. Let all my just debts, funeral and burial expenses be paid. Item 2nd. I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Jemima Hunt the whole of the tract of land I now live on for her use and benefit to have and to hold during her lifetime also the Item negroes now in my possession (to wit) Dolla, a woman, Britton a man, Berton, Johnson, Wesley, Isaac, Elijah, Lindsey, Alford, Mariah and Rebecca. Also all the stock of horses, cattle, sheep, hogs and the kitchen and household furniture plantation tools and every convanience belonging to said premises during her lifetime with the previledge of giving off any of the above negroes to my children as hereinafter named. Item 3rd. I have given to Jesse M. Redwine in the right of his wife Elizabeth one girl by the name of Charity, also I have given off to Nicholas M. Adams in right of his wife Drewsiller one girl by the name of Diner also I give my daughter Mary one girl by the name of Rebecca, also I give to my son Henry one boy by the name of Burtean. also I give to my son William one boy by the name of Johnson, also I give to my son Sion one boy by the name of Ned, now and to remain in his possession, also I give to my son James, one boy by the name of Wesley, also I give to my son Moses one boy by the name of Isaac, also I one hundred dollars to be paid by my Executors when made or collected, also I give to my son Willis one negro boy by the name of Elijah, also I give to my son Hullum one boy by the name of Lindsey, also I give to my son Richard Carter one boy by the name of Alford. Item 4th. It is my will that at the death of my wife the said negroes named in the 2nd Item (to wit) Dollar, Britton and Mariah shall be sold and an equal division made between all my children. Item 5. tis my will that in case any of the negroes intended for any of my children should die befoe they receive them, they shal receive another one, if any increase from those named to be sold. Item 6th. I will and bequeath to my son Hullum at the death of my wife, or when she thinks proper a part or portion of the tract of land I now live on, bounded as follows (viz) beginning at the Spring I now use thence south to Joneses line, thence west to Harcrows corner, thence north to a post oak corner joining Cason, thence east to a Hollow running near my apple orchard, thence a strate line to said Spring. Item 7th. It is my will that my sons to wit Willis and Richard Carter should live with my wife and manage her affairs during her life, and at her death the part of the tract of land I now live on which is not disposed of in Item 6 is to be equally divided between the above Willis and Richard Carter. Item 8. It is my will that the tract of land that I own lying in the 2nd dist. in the county of Earley No. 345 and one lot in the 17th dist. in the county of Muscogee No. 274 shall be sold by my Executors when they should think to the most advantage and be equally divided amongst my children. Item 9th. It is my will that my wife or the Executors should give to any of my children which are now single when necessary such things as I have usually given to my children when they left me if to spare. Item 10th. it is my will and I declair it to be so when my wife dies that all my estate, both personal and real, that has not been disposed of shall be sold and equally divided between Jesse M. Redwine in right of his wife Elizabeth, Henry Hunt, William Hunt, Sion Hunt, James Hunt, Jr., Moses Hunt, Nicholas M. Adams in right of his wife Drusilla, Willis Hunt, Hullum Hunt, Richard C. Hunt, Mary Hunt, all to share and share alike. Item 11th. I do hereby constitute and appoint my sons Sion Hunt and Willis Hunt my Executors to this my last Will and testament hereby revoking all others and ratifying and confirming this and this only, in testamony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this the eighth day of February 1832 Signed sealed and acknowledged before us and by us witnessed and subscribed at the request of the testator, the Will being first red to the testator. Teasley and Benager Teasley and after being duly sworn deposeth and say that they subscribed the above and foregoing Will of James Hunt decd as witnesses and that they signed the same in the presents of each other and in the presents of the deceased and by his request and on the day and date specified in the same and that they saw the deceased sign and seal the same himself and that they believe the said deceased was of sound mind and disposing memory at the time the said Will was executed. [Additional Information: The teatator James Hunt was born 6 June 1762, the son of James Hunt (1732-1805) and Mary Rackley, the testator being named in the 22 Aug 1803 Will of his father, proved Feb. 1805 in Robertson Co., TN. The testator was married 11 Nov 1790 to Jemima Carter. Jemima was shown as age 95, born in VA, in the 1860 Elbert Co. census and she died 7 Jan 1864. The testator's sister Lucy was married to John Teasley and the testator's brother Moses was married to Mary Tamar Tyner. Among the children of the testator, Willis Hunt married Priscilla Teasley, Matthew Hullum Hunt married 1st Harriett C. Ward and 2nd to Harriett S. Farmer, Richard Carter Hunt married 1st to Mary Harris and 2nd to Rachall Ann Alexander, Mary Hunt married William Page, Henry Hunt married Nancy Craft, Sion Hunt married 1st to Priscilla Kindree Thornton (dau. of Benjamin Thornton, Sr.)and 2nd to Sarah Penn, and James Hunt, Jr. married Mary W.
