I give and devise all my estate, real and personal, wherof I may be seized or possessed, to Fleming P. Thornton of said County and State: to have and to hold the same to himself, his heirs and assigns forever, upon the use and trusts following, namely: In trust to pay all my debts and funeral expenses. Secondly: To pay my wife, Sarah, upon her sold and separate receipts, as much of the interest, income, and revenue of my said estate, during the term of her natural life as may be deemed necessary for her comfortable maintenance. Thirdly: Upon the decease of my said wife, to convert all my said estate into money, if such a course shall be thought best, by my said Trustee - and to divide the whole equally according to the provisions of the law in such cases, between the legatees of my estate. If the political or financial condition of the Country or other justifiable causes, should forbid the sale of the property belonging to said estate at the time indicated, my said Trustee shall proceed to sale and division as above directed, so soon as the preventing cause shall have abated -And I hereby give to my Trustee, full power and authority to lease or rent any of my lands, or to sell any of my personal or real estte, at private or public sale, or to pourchase real or personal property, as he may deem best for the comfort of my said wife, or interest of my estate: Except, that my said wife shall have the sole right to dispose of three feather beds and one matras, with all the furniture belonging to them, consisting of four bedsteads, all the bed clothing belonging to my estate, also two pots, one skillet, one trunk, one loom, one spining-wheel, one chest, one dressing table, and one looking glass. And I hereby, nominate, constitute and appoint my said Trustee, Fleming P. Thornton, Executor of this, my last will and Testament. In witness whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal, the eighteenth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy two. Sion Hunt (LS) The above written instrument was subscribed by the said Sion Hunt in our presence, and acknowledged by him, to each of us, and he, at the same time published and declared the above instrument so subscribed, to be his last will and testament, and we at the Testator's request and in his presence have signed our names, as witnesses hereto. In the Court of Ordinary for said County, personally appeared before me in open court Josephus Maxwell, a subscribing witness to the foregoing instrument of writing, who being duly sworn, saith, that he was present and did see Sion Hunt, the within named, sign seal and publish, and declare the same to be his last will and testament: that he was of sound and disposing mind and memory, and that this deponent, together with B. C. Smith and J. W. Thornton signed the same as witnesses, at the request, and in the presence of the Testator and of each other. Sworn to before me this 1 day of March 1875 Josephus Maxwell J. A. Thornton do solemnly swear that this writing contains the true last will of Sion Hunt, deceased, so far as I know or believe, and that I will well and truly execute the same in accordance with the laws of this State, so help me God. Sion married first on 31 Jul 1823 in Elbert Co. to Priscilla Kindree Thornton, daughter of Benjamin Thornton, Sr. and his first wife. Priscilla was born 23 Oct 1803 and died 16 Aug 1846. Sion married second on 7 May 1849 in Elbert Co. to Sarah Penn, no children by second marriage. Sion and Priscilla had the following children: James J., Mary Elizabeth, Frances Jane, Benjamin Thornton, Reubin Smith, Sion W. Harrison, Dozier Calloway, Daniel Crumley and Emily (Emma) Priscilla Hunt.
