The twenty second of July one thousand seven hundred and ninety six. I Thomas Mackie of the State of Georgia and County of Elbert, Planter, being weak of body but in right mind and memory thanks be given God for the same and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die I do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say, Principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul unto the hands of God that give all and as for my body I recommend it to the earth to be buried in Christian & decent manner at the discretion of my executors, nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the Mighty Power of God and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the Manner & form following, that is to say, In the first place I give and bequeath to Rosanah my Dearly Beloved wife the third of my plantation that I now live on enduring her life time & the other two parts to be my sons John & William Mackie's enduring their Mother's lifetime and then it is to fall to my son John Mackie my House & [plantation] I give to Rosanah My Wife and one black mare three cows and these to be maintained of the plantation and one Negro Girl named Hager I give to Rosanah my Wife enduring the lifetime & at her death the said Negro Hager I give to Marthew Fleamin enduring her lifetime & at her death I give and bequeath the sd Negro & her is[issue] to Jnit [sic] & Rosanaha [sic] Fleming and the heirs of their body for ever, And I give and Bequeath unto Samuel and William Mackie & the heirs of their body one Negro woman named Cat Negro boy named Isaach one Negro Woman named Joan & child Named Jam to sd Samuel Mackie & William Mackie forever to be equally divided between them both, I give & bequeath unto my [son] William Mackie one bay horse & my still, & I give unto Jnat [sic] Brexey one cow the balance of my net cattle hogs and sheep I give the third to my son John Mackie & the two parts to William Mackie & to my Daughter Rachel Strickland I allow five dollars & my daughter Mary Hemphill five dollars & to my Daughter Rosannah Templeton five dollars and to my daughter Marthew Fleming five dollars & my cloase to Thomas Brexey. I do constitute and appoint John Mackie and Samuel Mackie my executors, signed sealed this twenty third July 1796 in presence of Samuel & Elijah Hopkins.
