He died on 9 Sep 1857 and the Will was recorded on 2 Mar 1858. The following order for the set aside of a year's support for his widow Fatha (Faitha) is as follows: "Georgia, Elbert County: By the ordinary of said county, whereupon the application of Martin M. Mewbourn one of the Administrators on the estate of Archibald Mewbourn dec'd it is hereby ordered by the ordinary of said County that the following named persons to wit John B. Maxwell, Stephen W. Jordan, William T. Maxwell, John E. Teasley and John W. Brown be and they are heeby appointed appraiser to assess the sum necessary for the support and maintenance of Mrs. Fatha Mewbourn widow of said dec'd for the term of twelve months and to set apart that amount in money or such property as may be selecgted by the said widow at a fair valuation to be made by said appraisers and that they are further impowered to set apart for the widow a sufficient amount of household furnitur for the use of the said widow and said appraiser shall make their returns in terms of law in such cases made and provided this 10th day of November 1857. Signed W. H. Edwards, Ordinary for said County. "I do hereby certify that John R. Maxwwell, William T. Maxwell, John W. Brown, appraisers named in the foregoing order were duly sworn to discharge their duty according to law this 19th day of November, 1857. Signed Levi T. Lunsford, J. P." Attached to the above order is a list of the goods set aside for the year's support, as follows: Hogs $18.00, 4 barrels of corn $10.00, 8 bushels wheat $8.00, $4.00 worth of sugar, $4.00 worth of coffee, 2 bushels of salt $2.00, and one lot of potatoes $2.50. Also furnitur and utensils totaling $62.45. [Submitter's notes: Archibald Mewborn (Mewbourn)(1781-1857), son of Thomas Mewborn (Newbern, Newborn) of Edgecombe Co., NC and came to Elbert Co. before 1795 with his step-father Luke White. He married on 27 May 1804 to Faitha Sheppard (1785SC-1877). They had children Thomas, Lucy, Mary, John, Sarah, Anna, Patsey Susanna, Nancy, Clarissa, William Archibald, Rebecca and Martin Marion. The daughter Nancy, born 6 Dec 1819, married on 18 Apr 1844 to Thomas Jefferson Teasley (1809-1891) who had been previously married to Martha W. Teasley, daughter of James Teasley, Sr. and Drucilla Allen.
