Will Book K, 1812-15, Page 303 Written: November 16, 1813 Recorded: October 18, 1816 In the name of God Amen, I Thomas Rose of the State of Georgia and County of Elbert, being well in health and sound in memory thanks be to God for the same calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing it is appointed once for all men to die do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament revoking all others (Viz) principally and first of all, I give and recommend my soul to God that gave it and for my body I recommend it to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the discretion of my Executors, and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hash pleased God to bless me with I give and dispose of the same in manner and form following (Viz) ___ I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Sally one negro man named Tam, one woman named Beck, one ____ named Feby and a negroe girl named Judy, one horse saddle and one feather bed and furniture during her natural life or widowhood and at her death or in case she should marry then in either event the negroe girl Judy above named I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Ausley and the balance of the above property to be equally divided among all my children that I have had by my present wife-also I give and bequeath to my son William Rose one negroe man named Kitt and one negroe boy named Gilbert one horse and saddle and one feather bed and furniture all of which he has received except the negroe boy Gilbert-also I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Ausley one negore girl named Dilse to her and her heirs of her body forever - also I give and bequeath to my daugter Sarah Barron two negroe girls Lizzie and Fanny to her and the heirs of her body forever also I give and bequeath to my son Grantham Rose the western half of __ land including the plantation on the west side of the creek two negroe men Bob and Abraham one feather bed and furniture and one horse and saddle and I also request my son Grantham to assist my son Benjamin when he stands in need if he has an opportunity, also I give and bequeath to my son Amos Rose the eastern half of my land including the plantation on which I now live on my wife to have a life estate in it also one negroe boy named Jesse and one negroe girl named Mary and one horse and saddle and one feather bed and furniture also I give and bequeath to my daughter Winny Rose one negroe ___ named Rhody which she has already received also I give and bequeath to my two grand children James Carrell and Lizzie Carrell twenty five dollars each and all the residue of my estate after the payment of my just debts I give to my wife Sally Rose during her natural life or widdowhood and then to be equally divided between all my children that I have from her and I do hereby appoint my son Grantham Rose Executor and my beloved wife Sally Rose Executrix to this my last Will and testament in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 16th day of November 1813. his Signed Sealed and acknowledged) Thomas X Rose (Seal) in presenc of us ) mark John Anderson ) Smith Cook, John Cook ) Georgia, Elbert County) Court of Ordinary September Term 1816 Personally appeared in open court John Anderson John Cook and Smith Cook and being duly sworn saith that they were subscribing witnesses to the within instrument being the Last Will and Testament of Thomas Rose ______these deponents saw the said deceased subscribe same and acknowledge the same to be his last Will and Testament and that he was of soun mind and disposing memory at the assigning the same.
