Will Book L, page 244: "In the name of God Amen, the fifth day of May one thousand eight hundred and three, I, Francis Satterwhite of Elbert County and State of Geogia being in a low and weak state of health but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be to God and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament and first of all I recommend my soul into the hand of God that gave it, and my body to the earth to be buryed at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same by the mighty power of God and as to touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life, I give and dispose of the same in the following manner and form. "Imprimise, I give to my sons Francis Satterwhite, Jon Satterwhite and Ruben Satterwhite the land lying on the manear in Elbert county more fully made appear by the plat and grant, six hundred acres. Item, I give to my son James Satterwhite two hundred acres of land joining Tos. Oliver in Elbert county on the waters of Beaverdam creek. Item, I give to my son Charles Satterwhite two hundred acres of land that I now live on an also eighty two acres joining the same, my wife shall also have her lifetime in the said parcel of land. Item. I give to my sons Francis, Rubin, James, Charles and my daughter Anna Satterwhite one featherbed, and furniture one cow and calf and one sow and pigs a piece. I give to my daughter Elizabeth one hundred sent. Item I give to my son Francis Satterwhite and Jon Satterwhite my stud horse named Sniss (?) to be equally divided between the said Francis Satterwhite and Jon Satterwhite provided they will furnish a tacky (?) to worke in his place. Item I lent to my beloved wife Elizabeth the hole of my negroes, stock and block during her natural life or widowhood making no water spoil of the same and at her deceas to be equally divided between my children Francis Jon Rubin James Charles and my daughter Elizabeth's children, to them and their heirs for ever my sons Francis John and Rubin I make and ordain my sole Executors and ___ of this my last Will and Testament and thereby revoke disanull all and every other former testament Wills bequests and ____ by me in any wise before this time made ratified and confirming this and no other to be my Last Will and testament in witness whereunto I have hereunto set my hand and seal in presents of Francis Satterwhite (seal) Peter Stubbs John Stubbs Benj.n Higginbotham Georgia, Elbert Court of Ordinary personally appeared in court this first day of March 1819 John Stubbs one of the subscribing witnesses to the within writing and being sworn saith that he saw Francis Satterwhite sign the same as his last Will and Testament and that he signed the same as a witness in his presence and that he saw Peter Stubbs and Benjamin Higinbotham sign the same as witnesses in his presence and at his request, that he was then of sound and disposing mind. Job Weston CCO" [Submitter's notes: The Will of John Satterwhite of Drisdale Parish, Caroline Co., VA, signed 14 Dec 1772, proved at Tappa, Essex Co., VA, on 20 Sep 1779, named wife Ann and children Jerimiah, James, Francis and John Satterwhite, Jane Higginbotham (wife of Samuel Higginbotham), Sarah Robinson (wife of Francis Robinson), Elizabeth Jeator (wife of Eliah Jeator), Mary, Clary and Ann. Samuel and Jane Satterwhite Higginbotham moved from Amherst Co., VA to Elbert Co. Francis Satterwhite's son Ruben and Ruben's first cousin Blackley Higginbotham, son of Samuel, both moved from Elbert Co. to Wilcox Co., AL.
