Thornton being of sound mind and considering the uncertainty of this life and being of advanced age, deem it right and just that I should make this my last will and testament. Item First. I desire that my body be burried in a Christian like manner suitable to my circumstances and condition. Item Second. I desire that my Executors hereinafter namedpay all of my just debts and funeral expenses. Item Third. I will to my beloved wife Harriet F. Thornton all of my estate, both real and personal, so long as she remains my widow, but in case my beloved wife Harriet F. Thornton marries again, I then wish my estate to be Equally divided between my wife Harriet F. Thornton and my son James W. Thornton and my daughter Mary A. Smith and my son John L. Thornton and my daughter Fannie D. C. Rucker or their representatives, all equal and just alike. Item Fourth. I will and desire that at my beloved wife's death, that all of my estate be equally divided between my four children named above, all equal and just alike.Or, if any of my children should be dead then I wish their children to inherit the portion that their father or mother thus dead would have inherited. Item Fifth. I hearby appoint my beloved wife Harriet F. Thornton Executrix and my beloved sons James W. Thornton and John L. Thornton Executors of this my last will and Testament. In witness whereof I, F. P. Thornton have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this December 29th, 1880.
