This file was contributed by: Chandler Eavenson http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00030.html#0007294 ================================================================== The following Will appears in Will Book 1809-1812, pages 130-131, Elbert Co., GA: "In the name of God amen I Reuben Thornton of the State of Georgia and County of Elbert being in a low state of health but perfectly of sound mind and memory do, this first day of May in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and ten, make and ordain this my last Will and Testament. First I will and bequeath that my Executors hereinafter named shall sell and dispose of a certain tract of land in the State aforesaid and county of Wayne situate lying and being in the second district and known by a plan of said district by lot number two hundred and sixty five in the way and manner that they shall think most proper and conducive to the interest of my estate. "Secondly after the paymnent of my just and lawful debts, I will and bequeath that my beloved wife Elizabeth Thornton keep and hold in her possession for the support of her and her children the profits from the sale of the above mentioned tract of land, also the tract of land whereon I now live containing two hundred acres more or less also two negroes by the names of Patty and Harry with my stock of all kinds, household and kitchen furniture with every thing appertaining to my estate during her widowhood and if she shall marry then all my estate aforesaid to be equally divided between her and my beloved children Priscilla, Thomas, William, Elizabeth, Sally, Reuben and Anne Thornton. "Lastly I constitute and appoint my true and trusty friends Daniel Thornton and Beverly Allen my sole executors to this my last Will and Testament and revoking all other heretofore made by me. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year aforesaid. Reuben Thornton Seal "Signed sealed published and declared in presence of Simeon Henderson, James Teasley, Drusilla (her mark) Teasley."
