A sale of the estate was conducted on 2 Sep 1826 by Samuel Turman, Administrator. (Will Book 1825-29, pages 44,45). Those individuals purchasing at the sale were: Mrs. Violetty Turman [his widow]; Samuel Turman [his son]; William Pulliam [his son-in-law, husband of Permelia Turman]; John Hall [his son- in-law, husband of Mariah Louisa Turman]; Seaborn J. Turman [his son]; Haley Butler; Gaines Thompson; Stephen White; A. Stinchcomb; John Harman, Sr.; John Webb; Joseph Downer, Jr.; Elijah B. Norman; F. C. Harman; Sachariah Smith; John A. Heard; George Inskeep; James Lunsford; John Allgood; and Archibald Burden. Subsequent Administrator's Returns (Will Book 1825-29, pages 107-108) showed receipts by the Administrator to the following after deducting one tenth part of the estate belonging to Thomas J. Turman [his son]: J. McNeal and D. Smith; Peter Cochran; Geo. Inskeep, agent for P. C. Guien; Samuel (his mark x) Shephard with D. C. McLaughlin as witness; Zach. Smith; Thomas Thornton; Nancy M. Hunt; James K. Inskeep; Thos. Knott; Jesse Brown; Samuel Koockogey; Turman and Head; James Upshaw; and G. Speed. Also shown was balance due on notes of Robert M. Carter, Martin B. Turman, Peter Cochran and John McNeal & David Smith. Listed as "Desperate" notes were those of Robert M. Carter and Martin B. Turman. The note of Samuel Collens was shown as "doubtful". Recorded 7 Sep 1826 by Job Weston, C. C. O. On 23 July 1827 lands of George Turman were ordered partitioned for a one third dower to his widow Violetty Turman and which included the "mansion, outhouses and improvements." On 25 July 1827 this dower was specified as 147 and 3/10s acres adjoining lands of John Hall, Oglesby, heirs of John White and heirs of Geo. Turman. [Submitters notes: There were other George Turmans in early Elbert Co., i. e. the one whose Will was recorded on 7 Jun 1806 and the one who was a son of a Thomas Turman. This estate record is that of the George Turman who was the son of Martin Turman and Nancy "Nanny" Ann Herndon, daughter of John Herndon.
