Elbert County. I, Isaac D. Vaughan of said County, being in sound disposing mind and memory and calling to mind the uncertainty of life, do make this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all other Wills by me heretofore made. 1st. I commend my soul to God who gave it, and my body to the earth to be buried in a Christian manner according to my circumstances in life. 2nd. I will and desire that my just debts be paid as hereinafter charged on my estate. 3rd. I give and bequest to my beloved wife, Harriet Vaughan, my house and lot in the town of Elberton where I now live together with all the rights appertaining here, my horse and buggy, silver watch, all the household and kitchen furniture she had when we were married or given to her by her father, the cow and calf on said lot which is hers. And I also give my wife the tract of land and its appurtenances I bought of S. F. Bruce, lying in Corporate limits of Elberton containing forty-three and three-tenth acres joining lands of J. D. James and others; to her and her heirs forever. 4th. I give and bequest to my two children, A. W. Vaughan and E. C. (Elizabeth Haynes), my home tract joining lands of A. Vaughan and Sanford S. Butler, all plantation tools, too chest and tools, cotton gin and all other things belonging to the said place, together with their heirs forever. I give my daughter the chest known as her mother's. (Rachel C. David) 5th. Should either of my children die before the provision of this Will is carried out, then my will is that their children shall take the part of my estate their deceased parent would have taken. 6th. I Will and desire that all my notes, accounts, and debts due me, and money that I have on hand at my death be collected and used for the payments of my debts. The balance, if any, be equally divided between my wife and my said two children share alike. If the above notes, debts and money is not enough. I will and direct that one half of my home tract of land be served for a burial ground, that said ground be neatly paled in at the expense of the estate. I appoint A. W. Vaughan, son; C. C. Campbell Additional Comments: Isaac David Vaughan and his first wife, Rachel C. David are buried in the Vaughan Cemetery on the Vaughan Plantation near Dewy Rose, GA. Rachel C. David is mother of all of Isaac David Vaughan’s children with the exception of Harriett Campbell's child, Ella S. J. Vaughan. Harriett is buried in the Harmon Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Ila, Georgia.
