Notes for FRANK OTIS STONE: >From the Forest-Blade Swainsboro, Georgia, September 22, 1938 Frank Otis Stone, prominent farmer died at 8 o'clock Tuesday night at his home near Stillmore after an illness of four days. He was 65 years of age and a native of Burke County. Mr Stone is survived by his wife wife, Mrs Mattie (Maggie) Canady Stone; four sons, E. H. Stone of Norfolk, Virginia, H. W. Stone of Swainsboro, C. F. Stone of Louisville, and Cecil Stone of Stillmore; five daughters, Mrs Virgil Jeffries, Mrs. Artie Strange, and Miss Vivian Stone, all of Stillmore; Mrs Lester Mims of Graymont and a sister, Mrs. H. Evans of Mobile, Alabama. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. today at Cool Springs Church, with Rev. Kitchens, officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Evans of Mobile should be Mrs. Homer Glisson of Mobile. My grandfather changed his name when he left Georgia. We understand he shot a man at a turkey shoot and the family was after him. Allegedly the shooting was in self-defense. Do you have a lot of information on the Stone family. I have a genealogy chart but few birthdates and death dates. Ann More About FRANK OTIS STONE: Burial: September 22, 1938, Cool Springs Primitive Baptist Cemetery, Candler County, Georgia Notes for MARGARET ELIZABETH WARREN: Margaret is buried in the Stillmore City Cemetery next to her sister Mary Ella Spradley with a maker with just STONE engraved on it. One of her nephews would not let her be buried under the name of Sapp since that was not J. C. Sapp's real name. Sapp was wanted for murder and had changed his name to escape prosecution. This was not known until his death. >From the Forest-Blade Swainsboro, Georgia, October 15, 1959 Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Sapp, 80, died in a Swainsboro hospital Friday. She is survived by her husband, J. C. Sapp of Stillmore; a daughter, Mrs. Nora Lee Misteli of Stillmore, a sister, Mrs. Florence Fuston of Stillmore. Funeral services were held Saturday at 4:30 P.M. at the Stillmore Baptist Church with the Rev. T. C. Hunnicutt Jr. Officiating. Pallbearers were H. W. Stone, C. F. Stone, Henry Johnson, R. L. Collins, Jeff Hudson and Junior Scarboro. T. C. Hunnicutt and Son of the Swainsboro Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
