This Indenture made this December the twenty fifth one 
thousand eight hundred and fifty eight between John 
Johnson of the county and State aforesaid of the one 
part and Kindred Johnson son of John Johnson of the 
same place of the other part. Witnesseth that the said 
John Johnson for and in consideration of the sum of 
five dollars in hand paid the receipt whereof is 
hereby acknowledged together with the natural love 
which he has and bears to his son Kindred Johnson 
hath given and granted and do by these presents give 
grant unto the said Kindred Johnson his heirs and  
assigns a certain Negro boy named Reubin about six 
months old of black complexion. To have and to hold 
said Negro boy Reubin unto him the said Kindred 
Johnson his heirs and assigns forever to their own 
proper use benefit and behoof forever and to the 
said John Johnson do warrant and defend the same 
against my heirs and assigns or against the claim 
of any other person in testimony whereof have 
hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day 
and year first above written. Signed Sealed and 
delivered in the presents of
