Introductory sermon was preached by Eld. G.W. Johnson; John 10th chapter, 27th verse. " My sheep hear my voice and I know them and they follow me." 2. After an intermission of two hours, the delegates assembled in the house and association was opened by singing and prayer by the Moderator. 3. Received and read letters from thirteen [ 13 ] churches and minuted their estate. 4. Proceeded to organize the associationby electing Eld. J.M. Thomas Moderator, and Bro. J.E. Brantley Clerk. 5. Appointed a committee on business as follows: J.E. Wilcher, C.C. Foskey and G.W. Sammons. 6. Appointed a committee on preaching as follows: W.T. Walden, E.B. Perdue and W.M. May, together with the delegates of Bethsaida church. Appointed Eld. J.W. Clemons to preach at 11 o`clock, Thursday morning; Eld. J.E. Culverson to close. 7. Moved and secnded; that we adjourn until 9 o`clock, Thursday morning. J.E. Brantley, Clerk J.M. Thomas, Moderator 1. Thursday morning at 9 o`clock the association met according to adjournment and was opened by singing and prayer by Eld. C.E. Hunnicut. 2. Called the roll;read and adopted the Decorum. 3. Called for petitionary letters and received none. 4. Called for report of business committee and adopted same. 1. We your committee on business, beg to make the following report. 2. We recommend each item of the articles of Faith, carry Bible Proof. 3. We recommend that the association go to Griffin`s Chapel and the General Meetinggo to Smith`s Chapel. 4. We here-by return our hearyt felt thanks to Bethsaida Church and commmunityat large for their Kindness shown us while in their midst and pray God`s blessings on each and every one. Moved and seconded;that we retain Cool Springs Church. 9. Moved and seconded; to print the proceedings of the General Meeting. 10. Appointed our next association to convene with Griffin Chapel, Glasscock County, Ga., three miles of Mitchell, Ga., commencing on Wednesday before the second Sunday in October 1925, Eld. W.H. Stephens to preach the introductory sermon; Eld. J.B. Davis, his alternate. 11. Appointed our next General Meeting to convene with Smith`s Chapel, Johnson County, Ga. commencing on Friday before the fifth Sunday in July 1925,Eld. J.M. Thomas to preach the introductory sermon, Eld. G.W. Johnson his alternate. 12. Agreed to have six-hundred minutes printed and that the Clerk superintend the printing and distribution of same; and that the Clerk have all the money paidin for minutes, above actual cost of printing and distribution. 13. Order of preaching, Friday morning by Eld. J.M. Thomas; followed by Eld. J.B. Davis 14. Adjourned to meet the association at Griffin`s Chapel, Glasscock County, Ga., on Wednesday, before the second Sunday in October, 1925. J.E. Brantley, Clerk J.M. Thomas, Moderator State of Georgia, Laurens County: The General Meeting convened Friday before the Fifth Sunday, in August 1924. Opened with singing and prayer, by W.H. Stephens. The introductory sermon preached by J.B. Davis, followed by J.B. Thomas, from the 10th chapter, St. Mark, 15th verse. After the house recess, proceeded to call for letters; received 9 delegates from eleven churches; further proceeding by electing Bro. W.H. Stephens, Moderator. Brother J.B. Davis was appointed to preach. Business as follows: Brother W.T. Walden, G.W. Soloman, J.E. Wilcher. Preaching committee: Bro. E.E. Mimbs,L.F. Smith, G.E. Foskey. Adjournment for Saturday morning. Closing prayer by Bro. H.G. Brantley. Saturday Morning Session On Saturday morningwe assembled on 9:45 o`clock. Singing by congregation. Prayer by Bro. Brantley. Call for absent letter. Three were received from Smith Chapel and Nollis Chapel Silver Leaf. Statements from Union and Brantley Chapel. Received letter and statementsfrom the above churches. Adjournment until 2:30 p.m. Re-assembled at 2:30 p.m. to continue the meeting. Singing by the congregation, followed by opening prayer. Report of the business committee was made and adopted. W.H. H.G. Brantley W.T. Walden G.M. Sammons Articles of Faith Article 1. We believe in one and only true God, and a trinity of persons in the Godhead-Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Proof;Deut. 4:39; Isa. 45-6; Mark 12-32; John 1-14; col. 1-15, 17; Phil.2-6-8; 1st John 5-7; John 10:30 Art. 2 We believe that the scriptures of the old and new testament are the word of God, the only rule of faith and practice. Proof: 2d Tim.3-16-17; 1st Peter 1- 19-21; Rev. 22-18-19. Art. 3 We believe in the doctrine of eternal and personal election of a definite number of the human race, chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world, that they should be holy and without blame before him in love. Proof: Eph. 1-4-6; 2d Thes. 2-13; John 15-16; 1st Peter 1-2. Art. 4 We believe in a conavent of redemption ordered in all things infallibly sure existing between God the Father and God the Son. Proof: Isa. 89-3-4; 2d Sam. 23-5; Zach. 9-11; Luke 1-72; Heb.13-20; 1st Peter 18-20; Rev. 5-9. Art.5 We believe in the fall of man and the communication of Adam`s corrupt nature to his posterity by ordinary generation, and their impotency to recover themselves from the fallen state they are in by sin and wicked works by their own free will and ability. Proof:Gen. 3-6-24; Rom. 5-12; Psa. 1-5,1st Cor. 15- 22. Art.6 We believe that all chosen in Christ shall hear the voice of the Son of God and be effectually called, regenerate and be born again, and that thus born again are justified in the spirit of God only by the righteousness of Jesus Christ imputed to them and received by faith. Proof: John 1-27-29; 1st John 3- 9; Eph. 1-4; 2 Tim. 1-9; John 6-27. Art.7 We believe that all the saints of God thus called by the holy spirit and justified by the righteousness of Christ, shall be preserved in grace and not one of them finally fall away so as to be lost. Proof: James 2-23; Rom. 5-1; Col. 3-3; John 10-28-29. Art.8 We believe in the doctrine of the ressurection, both of the just and unjust, and a general judgement, that the joys of the righteous will be eternal and the punishment of the wicked everlasting. Proof: John 5-28-29; Acts 17-31; 1st Cor. 15-21-23; Rev. 20-12-15; Matt. 25-45-46. Art.9 We believe that the church of Christ is a local body of professing baptized believers, who have gained christian fellowship with each other, and have given themselves up to the Lord and one another, and have covenanted together to keep house for God, agreeable to the rules of the Gospel, and therefore be kept organically separate and distinct from and independate of the world and its institutions, and is the highest and only ecclesiastical authority known to the word of God. Proof: Matt. 16-18-19; Eph. 1-22; Col. 1-8; Math. 17-18; Eph. 2-19-22; 1st Cor. 6-4; Acts. 5-4; John 15-18-19. Art.10 We believe that Jesus Christ is the great head of the church, and her only law giver, that the government is with the church itself and is the privilage of each member, that the discipline cannot be lagally extended beyond her own Scripture jurisdiction, and is intended for the reclamation or expulsion of those members who may be disorderly either in principle or practice, and must be faithfully kept up for God`s glory and the peace and unity of the church. Proof: Matt. 18-19; Col. 1-18; Acts. 11-26; Col. 1-24; Eph. 5-23. Art.11 We believe that water baptism and the Lord`s Supper, and the washing of the saints` feet are ordinances of the Lord, and are to be administered by the authority of the church until His second coming. Proof: Mark 1-4; John 3-2-3; Acts. 8-3-8; Matt. 26-26-28; Mark 14-22-24; Luke 22-19-20; Acts 2-12; John 13-1- 17; 1st Tim. 5-10. Art.12 We believe none but regular ordained ministers have the right to adminster the ordinances. Only professed believers in Christ, who,in the judgement of the church, are true christians, are the only proper subjects of baptism, and immerson the only proper mode, and none but regular baptized and orderly church members have a right to communion at the Lord`s table. Proof: Heb. 5-4; John 3-27; 1st Tim. 4-14; Tit. 1-5; Acts 6-6. Decorum Item 1. The association shall be composed by members chose from the different churches in our union, and duly sent to represent them in our Association producing letters from their respective churches; certifying their appointment shall be entitled to a seat. Item 2. In the letters for different churches will be expressed the members in full fellowship, those baptized, received by letter, dismissed, excommunicated , or dead since last Association. Item 3. This association shall have no powerto lord it over God`s heritage, nor by which they can infringe upon the eternal rights of the church, nor to consure or try any individual member in reference to faith or practice, or determine on the validity of the gospel ordinances. These things shall rest entirely with the church. Item 4. This association shall have a Moderator and Clerk, who shall be chosen by the members present; who shall be of the body, who shall hold their offices until another election. Item 5. If any church desires to be admitted into this union, it shall partition by letter and delegates, and if upon examination, it is found orthodox and orderly, shall be received by the Moderator extending the right hand of fellowship to said delegates. Item 6. Ordained ministers of our churches shall be permanant delegates while in fellowship and shall not be entitled to vote except in absence of the lected delegates. Item 7. Each church shall have two delegates and no more except their ordained ministers. Item 8. Each motion having a second shallclaim the attention of the body without being withdrawn by the member making it. Item 9. Every person who speaks in debate shall stand and address the Moderator and shall not be interrupted unless he departs from the subject. Item 10. No person shall speak more than three times on the same subject without leave of the Moderator. Item 11. Any brother has the privilage to speak and no reflection shall be cast on the speaker. Item 12. No person shall absent himself from the body without leave from the Moderator. Item 13. The names of the delegates shall be enrolled by the Clerk and called at the opening of the meeting. Item 14. The Moderator shall have the same privilege of speech as any other member, provided the chair be filled, and have no vote except when the body is equally devided. Item 15. The Clerk`s duty is to keep a record of the proceedings of the body. Item 16. The minutes of the Association shall be read and signed by the Moderator and Clerk before he closes its proceedings. Item 17. Any member who shall break these rules shall be reprovedby the body as they think proper. This association shall open and close with prayer. Ordained Ministers Elder J.B.
