(Jim) Carroll williamcarrollj@bellsouth.net December 1, 2009, 5:34 am The Swainsboro Forest-Blade 11-30-1961 Page 2 Mrs. Canady Dies After Long Illness Mrs. Amanda Gertrude Canady, 64, of Route 1, Twin City, died Thursday night at her residence after a few weeks illness. The widow of the late Henry B. Canady, she was a native of Emanuel County and a member of the Holy Church of God in Savannah. Survivors include four sons, Newborn and Carl Canady, both of Stillmore, Robert Canady of Savannah, and Byron Canady of Twin City; six daughters, Mrs. Christine Wrens, Statesboro, Mrs. Frances Riner, Mrs. Jerome Hall, Mrs. Ethel Walkins, and Mrs. Sally Mae Turner, Savannah, and Mrs. Dorothy Hall, Twin City; her mother, Mrs. Lizzie Drake, Metter; a brother, Tommy L. McDaniel of Lake Worth, Fla.; three sisters, Mrs. Bell Jewell of Calahan, Fla., Mrs. Lula Green of Metter, and Mrs. Addie McGahee of Vidalia; 30 grandchildren; and 7 great0grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 3pm Saturday from the Midway Church near Swainsboro with the Rev. C. M. Butler and Elder Oliver Hudson officiating. Interment was in the Lamb Cemetery with nephews serving as pallbearers. T. C. Hunnicutt & Son of the Swainsboro Mortuary in charge of arrangements. Additional Comments: Amanda was born Oct 1897 to Joseph S. McDaniel and Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Foskey McDaniel Drake. Georgia death certificate #28737. Her parents are buried at Midway Church Cemetery in Treutlen County.
