Lester Coleman, 79, died Tuesday at a Milledgeville Hospital after a short illness. The Emanuel County native was a veteran of World War I. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Florrie T. Coleman of Swainsboro; six daughters, Mrs. Flanders Peebles, Mrs. Carol Morris, Mrs. Martha Hall, all of Swainsboro, Mrs. June Malone and Mrs. Mary Evans, both of Savannah, and Mrs. Betty Stinson of Macon; a son, R. L. Coleman Jr. of Atlanta; five sisters, Mrs. Sudie Swinson, Mrs. Mary Phillips, Mrs. Fannie Price, Mrs. Patty Henry, and Mrs. Ernie Durden, all of Swainsboro; 11 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 3pm today at Swainsboro City Cemetery. Peebles-Curry Mortuary of Swainsboro is in charge. Additional Comments: R. Lester was born 16 Jan 1892 to Elisha Jordan Coleman and Harriett Lake Coleman. Georgia death certificate #034170. His wife, Flora "Florrie" B. Tyson Coleman is also buried in Swainsboro City Cemetery.
