Davis, one among Emanuel County's best citizens, living four miles south-east of Swainsboro, was killed on Saturday evening, the 22d instant, about 4 o'clock, at his residence. Mr. Davis was at work on a crib in his lot, gabling it up, and was standing upon a scaffold, nailing on some plank, when a bolt of lighting came and struct him on the head and ran down his back, and then on a post, over which he was standing, tearing the post, into pieces. The bolt, it seems, tore his clothing up very badly, breaking the skin only in one place-on his foot, tearing up his shoe. His family, taking notice of his absence while raining , went out to look for him, and, to their surprise, found him dead at the crib in the lot.
