Swainsboro Newspaper, SFB 3/11/1948
Mrs. Elizabeth Glisson, age 87, of Summertown, died at her residence at 7:45 
Friday morning after a long illness.  She was the widow of the late Jeff 
Glisson of Emanuel county, Mrs. Glisson was born in Laurens county, the 
daughter of the late Frank Barfield and the late Mrs. Georgia Ann Barfield 
both of Laurens county.
Survivors are one son, Hennon H. Glisson of Summertown; four daughters, Mrs. 
Dona Sego of Statesboro, Mrs. Clara Bell Pope of Millen; Mrs. Callie Collins 
of Ludowici, Mrs. Norah Stavley of Summertown; several grandchildren and great-
grandchildren, three brothers, West Barfield of Warrenville, S.C., Ben 
Barfield of Macon and Jim Barfield of Lyons; two sister, Mrs. Mary Graham of 
Ocala, Fla., and Mrs. Sara Farrow of Reidsville.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday from the Hines Missionary Baptist 
Church near Summertown with the pastor Rev. Scarbobo, officiating.  Burial was 
in the church cemetery.  
Pallbearers were: Leon Canady, Frank Kirkland, Roy Grimes, Wilkes Bramlett, 
Teddy Braddy and Wallace Bailey.

Additional Comments:
Corrections: Lizzie was actually born about 1877.  She was 3 years old on the 
1880 census.......so she was only 66 years old when she died.  NOT 87.
