Kersey was held at 3pm Sunday from Adrian United Methodist Church. The Rev. Johnny Watts, The Rev. Johnnie Walker, and the Rev. Inman Gerrald officiated. Burial was in Poplar Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery near Adrian. He died Thursday night in Emanuel County Hospital, Swainsboro. Mr. Kersey was a lifelong resident of Adrian and was the son of the late Rufus L. Kersey and the late Mrs. Vertie Ivey Kersey. He was a member of Adrian United Methodist Church, where he served on the board of trustees. Mr. Kersey was a retired civil service employee with Robins Air Force Base. Mr. Kersey seved as mayor of Adrian 11&1/2 years and also served on the Adrian City Council. He was a honorary deputy with Emanuel County Sheriff's department, a member of American Legion, and served in the Navy during World War II. Mr. Kersey was a former member and secretary of Emanuel County Mayor's Association. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Minnie Foskey Kersey of Adrian; two sons, Larry W. Kersey of Warner Robins and Randy Von Kersey of Vidalia; three sisters, Mrs. Eunice Bryant of West Palm Beach, Fla., Mrs. Bessie Whitton of Midland and Mrs. Sadie Lively of Port Wentworth; and three grandchildren. Active pallbearers were Bobby Lively, Charles Lively, Danny Lively, Austin Exley, Craig Exley, and Brooks Lively. Honorary pallbearers were Blake Pullen, Garbutt Fountain, Jack Foskey, Cuen Kight, Carlton Willis, D. B. (Bab) Smith, Garnett Stephens, Lewis Martin, Clyde Poole, John Bell, Tyson Stephens, Wayne Hooks, James Beckham, Frank Radford, and Winford Smith.
