Funeral for Joe(Joseph) L. Mason, 75, was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, 
1998, at Fox and Weeks Funeral Home, Hodgson Chapel.  Interment was at 3 p.m. 
in Swainsboro, City Cemetery.

He died Sunday, Sept. 13, in Candler Hospital, Savannah.

Born in Bartow, Fla., Mr. Mason lived most of his life in Swainsboro and 
Savannah.  He was retired owner of Mason's Used Cars and was a U.S. Army 
veteran, haveing served during the Korean War.  He was a member of Bible 
Baptist Church, Disabled American Veterans and American Legion Post 184.

Survivors include his wife Mrs. Thelma F. Mason of Savannah; four daughters, 
Sandra Dorsey of Swainsboro, Faye Malone of Statesboro, Deborah Mason of St. 
Simons Island and Marcelle Godwin of Savannah; his mother, Myrtle S. Mason of 
Swainsboro; three sons, Larry Durden of Swainsboro, Leonard Mason of Savannah 
and Tracy Mason of St. Simons Island; two sisters, Ann Sumner and Peggy Price, 
both of Swainsboro; three brothers, Jack Mason of Beech Island, S. C., James 
Mason and Charles Mason both of Swainsboro; nine grandchildren; two great-
grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
